……And this is how it started……
After almost close to a decade, five old batch mates happened to meet up. They all had been engrossed in their own lives, living in different time zones and somehow, not staying in touch all these years. At last they all met and made an unforgettable reunion.

There is always a driving force behind any event, and our driving force was a famous friend from Mumbai, Ms. Jyotika Purwar– an artist, a cook and a designer! Like any other recipe of hers, she decided to make a brilliant concoction of all five of us travelling from Delhi to Ambala and back to revive lost friendships. Studio Incept dedicates its inception to Jyotika aka Jojo for bringing us together.

We have to digress here, to give you a sneak peek into our history. All of us, Interior Design graduates from School of Interior Design, CEPT Ahmedabad, (saying so with great pride) had one of the best times of our life during the struggling years at college.

The pictures that follow are proof enough! From recuperating after submissions, waking through non bathed sleepless nights, surviving empty pockets and stomachs, and most of all the dreaded juries, all of us saw each other through thick and thin, through the worst and best of times.

The institute played a key role in all our lives, imparting a basic fundamental, that a design practice is a continuous process of learning and unlearning. The last 8 years were spent by all of us exploring newer areas of interest, few furthering their education abroad and the others gaining work experience in diverse areas of design.

Last year July, this reunion helped us bring back all those memories of hardships and joy together. We all realized the beauty of perfection in imperfections and decided to motivate each other through our work and lives to bring a positive change and of course to keep in touch! Two of us took the plunge together and started work on a little hotel project to see what the future holds for us….

Welcome, Studio Incept.
The name is an amalgamation of two words Inception which means “to create” and CEPT (the name of our institute), continuously reminding us of the purpose of this union and our roots. Our studio is our space where we think, brainstorm, explore and create things.
This blog aims be an extension to our studio, a place where we’ll share our thoughts, our doubts and our inspirations in design and related fields, driving us to learn further.
